About the Blog

When I first moved to college,  I was a transplant from NorCal into the OC and didn’t dare venture to LA. It was a scary place without a city center that I couldn’t begin to comprehend. After I graduated, I moved to Pasadena and slowly began exploring the different parts of the greater Los Angeles and realizing the rich history that the city held within it. Los Angeles is a place where Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, Charlie Chaplin, and Albert Einstein once roamed the streets. It’s a city built upon storytelling; a city named after angels splashed with towering palm trees and technicolor smog sunsets and manages to hold the perfect combination of glamour and broken dreams.

The inspiration for this blog stemmed from an idea I had while driving past the Hollywood crucifix and humming “How Big How Blue How Beautiful” to myself. With my recent obsession with LA history, and reflecting on all the amazing places Florence goes to throughout LA in her short film, The Odyssey - my thoughts formed. I decided to create a city guide/background history of the places Florence has visited in videos and pictured on Instagram. One of the biggest things I noticed while living in LA was that people didn’t even realize the history and magic that surrounded them on a daily basis.

So, to close that gap of knowledge, I introduce you to Echoes of a City. Exploring is one of my favorite things, so I hope this will inspire you to visit some of these amazing places that hold so much history or are simply awesome places to see. I travel a lot so I’ll cover a few cities outside of LA too. :)

Happy learning, and hopefully happy adventuring!
